Limina: Our 2024 Impact

A note from the CEO, Dr Isabel Tarling
The past year has been a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when great minds and even greater hearts come together to change the world. Every milestone we’ve reached at Limina and every challenge we’ve overcome during 2024 was possible because of the spirit, determination and collaboration of our incredible team. Together, we have not only shaped the trajectory of Limina but also created a lasting impact that inspires us to dream bigger and strive harder to realise our vision to reimagine learning and enable change in 10 million learners by 2035!
Our journey has been one of learning, adaptation, and innovation, and I am so proud of what we have accomplished together. Previously, our focus was on professional development and learning design, and our website even boldly stated: We’re a Learning Design company! This strategy, however, changed in the past year as we moved to mobilise the extensive knowledge and drive from within to support learning not only in education but also in training contexts.
This was borne from time spent in TVET and training contexts, where I saw first-hand the need for evidence-based learning practices. During a short presentation at a train-the-trainer session for our Whistleblower course, I shared how training can be designed to support learning. After this, the response ranged from “I never knew this” to “Where can we learn more?” It dawned on me that what we take for granted in Limina as best practice to support learning may not be widely known. At this moment we shifted from a Learning Design company to a Learning Enabling team.
Looking back on this year, I am struck by the progress we made towards achieving our vision and fulfilling our purpose. In July 2024, the appointment of Shari Joseph, our Director of Operations, launched Limina 2.0. Soon after, we restructured the company to include twelve teams. The internal teams keep the lights paid, the contracts signed, and the company steaming along administratively. Our external teams create the services and products that our clients rely on. They include the Courses & Workshops Team, our Learning Experience Design Team, the Graphics and Multimedia Team, the LMS & Tech Team, our Research Team, and the Podcasting Team. The Sales and Marketing Teams create links between the external and internal, spreading our message and products. Unsurprisingly, the rapid growth in our teams paralleled the exponential growth of our impact.
In 2024, we were involved in seven research projects; we designed and facilitated five courses and workshop projects; we built learning experience design courses; and we completed our many dedicated graphics and multimedia, as well as tech teams’ projects. Each and every one of these projects was made possible because our entire team worked to make it so. Our team backed each other up and was always willing to be a second or third pair of eyes, hands, or problem-solvers. Our team of Liminaires moved mountains and achieved success because we learnt to think together, support each other and believe that we can make the world a better place in our lifetimes.
As we reach the end of another chapter in our journey, I am inspired by the strides we have made this year and the lives we have touched. This New Year, the Limina team celebrates the foundation we’ve built for an even brighter future.
As we step into 2025, let’s carry the light of learning, creativity, and innovation into every corner of education. Together, we can empower progress for every learner. We thank all of you for inspiring us to shine in 2024 and wish you a joyful, inspired, and impactful New Year from all of us at Limina!
